At several points, you have to select an account / option from a selection
Grid. In the following picture, we are to select one of the Balance Sheet
class. We have already pressed 'PL'. It is showing two records in
highlighted mode. Note that we have not entered the character '&'. You
may also note that only alphabets and numeric characters are required to
be entered. Spaces & other punctuation marks are ignored for selecting an
option / account. To choose 'P&L: Expenses', press the characters 'PLE'. You do not need to press ':' or any space to select this option.
This method of ignoring spaces & punctuation marks is very useful to
select an account like C.S.T. You may have entered this record in Master
as:
1. CST
2. C.S.T
3. C S T
4. C. S. T.
In all these cases, to select this account you need to press the characters
CST because spaces and punctuation marks are ignored for the purposes
of selection.
Filtering records in Selection Grid:
Sometimes you are not sure about the exact name of the desired account
/ option. For example, you might remember that the Account head
contains the word 'Bank' but do not remember the exact name. In that
case, enter the word 'Bank' with a '.' (Dot) prefix. After this a filtered
selection grid of all accounts containing the word 'Bank' shall appear in
selection grid as shown below:
Note that Pink color of Input Text Box indicates that the list being shown is
a filtered Selection List. You may also note that balance of the selected
account is also shown in 'Red Strip' on the top of selection grid.
Filtering Account head with Station:
Sometimes you have certain accounts with similar names at different
stations. For example you may have following accounts in your master :-
A/C NAME
STATION
Guru Nanak Medical Store
Banga
Guru Nanak Medicos
Jalandhar
Guru Nanak Mission Hospital
Jalandhar
Now to find 'Guru Nanak Medical Store Banga' you may enter '.Gur-Ban'. This will select all accounts starting with 'Gur' and where station
starts with 'Ban'.
Note : search is case-insensitive. (Capital & small characters are treated
alike).
